I’m very excited about this weekend, because Twinkle and I will be back at the Art Car Boot Fair - this time in Margate. It’s such a privilege to be invited to take part in this wonderfully bonkers and brilliant event!
The theme for this year is LOVE, and in these times of uncertainty and political turmoil this focus on and celebration of LOVE is very welcome.
Twinkle and I will be celebrating our freedom of movement with matching outfits and collaborative artworks, please do come and find us at our stall and say hello. We will both also have individual paintings and prints for sale at exclusive on the day prices.
The queues for the Art Car Boot Fair can be long, if you want to avoid the queues and gain priority entrance on the day there are a limited number of advance tickets available for £10 - these are for sale on their website here.
I decided to respond to the theme of LOVE by making some paintings of something I love. For the past 3-4 weeks I have spent every single spare minute painting miniature versions of my favourite album covers. Each one is 10x10cms, I will have 20 of these for sale in Margate on Saturday and I am intending to paint another 30 to bring it up to a total of 50.
It’s not exactly a definitive list, because I’m not very good at definitive lists, but these albums are some that I love and respect, and whose cover artwork are imprinted on my visual memory. In some cases I have a special memory of that album, or I might love a particular song, or it just looks damn cool or the band is just ace. These were a joy to paint, and I made sure to listen to the complete album for each one whilst I painted! Some of these albums I haven’t listened to in years and it felt good to revisit them.
Here’s a selection so far, and there will be more coming soon!
