Tinsel Edwards is a Glasgow-based artist. Predominantly a painter, her practice also includes printmaking, working with found materials, installation and public ‘art stunts’.
Tinsel’s art comments on a wide variety of contemporary social and political issues. Alongside this it often references the absurdity and mundanity of the everyday. Her work offers biting social commentary entwined with humour, emotion and honest autobiographical narrative.
“As the remnants of the YBAs and Thatcher’s children, the ‘me’ generation, turn into cynical, self-absorbed middle aged ATMs and cash cows, it is refreshing to find work that is politically and emotionally engaged.”
