Tinsel Edwards (b.1979, Midlands, UK) is an artist based in Glasgow, Scotland.
Her work is rooted in a fascination with the everyday and the mundane - the routines and rituals that connect us, the absurdity and the messiness of our lives. Tinsel’s painting practice expands into working with found materials, assemblage and ceramic with a process-led focus on experimentation and play. Through personal narrative and references to the domestic, recent work explores the emotional complexities of motherhood from a feminist perspective.
Tinsel has a BA (hons) in Fine Art from Goldsmiths College, London (1998 -2001). In 2024 Tinsel was awarded a grant from Creative Scotland, she joined Glasgow Sculpture Studios to develop her ceramics and completed the painting/mentoring programme - Turps Banana Correspondence Course (2024-25). She is also an alumni of Leith School of Art, Mentoring Year (2023), One Day Painting Course (2022). Tinsel’s curatorial prorjects include The Hearing Trumpet, The Alchemy Experiment, Glasgow (2025) and The Poor Door, A-Side B-side, London (2015). Solo exhibitions include Holding On, Saltspace, Glasgow (2023), Femme Maison, Subversion Gallery, Glasgow (2022). Recent group exhibitions include Subject Object, Terrace Gallery, London (2026), Silent Disco 24, Suffolk (2024) curated by John Moores prize winner Graham Crowley.
