50 Favourite Album Covers

I began this series of paintings for the Art Car Boot Fair in Margate in September 2019, the theme was LOVE, so I decided to make some paintings of something I love. These 10x10cm oil paintings are miniature interpretations of some of my favourite album covers, it’s not exactly a definitive list, but these albums are some that I love and respect and their cover artworks are imprinted on my visual memory.

My plan was to paint 50 but I reached 49, I will paint number 50 at some point! I saw this series as a project that ran alongside other work I was making in the studio, tiny paintings I could make at the kitchen table as and when I found time after work, something that could fit in around family life.

Album cover commissions

Along the way I began to get commission requests, in the end I painted around 30 album cover painting commissions and I loved making these for people! It would often introduce me to an album I hadn’t listened to.
