SIGNS OF THE TIMES
I was invited to create some art for Dismaland, Banksy's Bemusement Park in Weston-Super-Mare. It was displayed in the activist tent. I screen printed and painted directly onto found estate agent signs, creating a collection of modified signs. This was VERY exciting, thank you Banksy for inviting me to be part of the incredible spectacle that was Dismaland, what an experience.
"Edwards pulls no punches with a stark, poignant commentary on the capital's rapidly rising house prices - estate agent signs liberated from the streets they litter and the language they peddle have been subverted to tell the stories that matter more: those of the cities residents"
After Dismaland I brought the signs back to London and took them out into the streets, I left them in places such as outside the Houses of Parliament, in Elephant and Castle near the old Heygate Estate, and at the Carpenters Estate in East London close to the Olympic Park. They were also exhibited at The Art Conference (curated by Tina Ziegler of Moniker Art Fair) and in the group show I curated called The Poor Door.
